Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist registered nurses in providing clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
  • Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, as per established guidelines.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and blood glucose levels, and perform other patient monitoring activities as required.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
  • Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
  • Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Collect and label specimens as per established procedures.
  • Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing assistant certification preferred.
  • Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
  • Enrollment in a nursing program or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment in a related program.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic skills in math and computer science.
  • Ability to perform, modify, and record physical therapy skills with relevance to thoroughness and sequencing.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other hazardous materials. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required. The role also involves standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
