Job Summary

As a Patient Safety Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure their safety and security.
  • Receive reports from exiting staff members, including specific patient behaviors to be monitored.
  • Ensure patient safety by promptly calling for assistance as needed.
  • Remain with patients at all times unless relieved by another staff member.
  • Notify RN if IV tubes, catheters, or any items become disconnected.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-equipped environment.
  • Utilize delirium kits as necessary to support patient care.
  • Reduce sensory stimuli to promote patient comfort.
  • Communicate with family members during visits.
  • Provide total patient care within the scope of practice, including positioning, tray setup, feeding, assistance with activity and ambulation, bathing, oral care, changing linens, turning every 2 hours, and recording intake and output.
  • Ensure patients are up in a chair for meals if applicable.
  • Ambulate patients at least twice per shift if necessary.
  • Accompany patients during transfers to other nursing or non-nursing units.
  • Promote infection control through hand washing, alcohol gel use, and personal protective equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.

  • Maintain and document all applicable required information.
  • Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker interactions.
  • Comply with the company's attendance policy.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Perform work in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies.
  • Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
