Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinician II to join our Emergency Services team at the City of Chesapeake. As a Clinician II, you will provide crisis intervention and pre-admission screening services to individuals in need of mental health support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-admission screening and crisis intervention services to individuals in the 24-hour Emergency Services unit and the CIT Assessment Center.
  • Perform risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care using the least restrictive alternative to manage crises.
  • Advocate for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization, or detox services.
  • Consult with magistrates regarding TDOs and ECOs to promote safety of individuals and the community.
  • Coordinate admissions to hospitals and other outpatient treatment options.
  • Represent the City of Chesapeake in commitment hearings.
  • Work closely with law enforcement to triage mental health crises in the community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation.
  • Minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A) certification.
  • Pre-Screening Certification within 6 weeks of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisee in Social Work or Resident in Counseling or LCSW or LPC.
