Administrative Physician Leader

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Physician to join our team at the Indian Health Service. This is a unique opportunity to serve as the Clinical Director/Chief of Medical Staff of the Clinical Services Branch and provide primary care for the Hopi Health Care Center.

• Directly supervise physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, medical support assistants, and other clinical services staff, including performance appraisals, department scheduling, and leave approval.
• Work closely with other supervisors to formulate management discussions, decisions, and policy making.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of clinical privileges, including interviewing and examining patients, reviewing past medical history, and requesting and/or performing diagnostic tests and examinations.
• Document patient care procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and work closely with allied health professionals.

To be eligible for this position, you must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from a school in the United States or Canada, or equivalent from a foreign medical school. You must also have a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition, you must have at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. You must also have completed 5 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.

Board Certification in the physician's specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is also required.
