Position Overview

Are you dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others? Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking Independent Living Providers for our Host Home initiative in the Northwest Iowa area. This role allows you to profoundly influence the life of an adult with disabilities by welcoming them into your home.

The Independent Living Providers will offer essential support, guidance, and care to the individual residing with them. Responsibilities include assisting the mentee in achieving personal goals such as shopping, budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, and fostering community integration. As a mentor and advocate, you will empower them to lead their best life.

This partnership provides an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with the individual you are hosting, as they become a valued member of your household.

This is a contracted role. Lutheran Services in Iowa will facilitate the matching of mentors and mentees, along with providing ongoing support, guidance, and training resources. Prior to placement, there are training requirements and a home safety assessment that must be completed.

The average compensation for Independent Living Providers is approximately $70,000 annually.

We are actively seeking Independent Living Providers in the Northwest Region, which includes a wide array of counties in northwest Iowa.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be a resident of Iowa
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license is necessary
  • Must meet minimum insurance criteria
  • Access to a computer and internet for documentation is required
  • A private bedroom must be available for the individual
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive screening process, including background checks for all household members over 18, a three-part interview, and a home safety evaluation
  • Flexibility and creativity are essential
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the community is crucial
