Shift Manager Job Description

The Shift Manager is a key member of the Truenorth team, responsible for delivering exceptional guest service and ensuring a clean and organized store image. This role involves assisting with merchandising, pricing, and loss prevention, as well as operating the cash register/Point of Sale (EPOS) system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding guest service by creating a welcoming and friendly environment, including greeting and thanking every guest.
  • Maintain awareness of monthly promotions, sale merchandise, and advertisements, and assist in the completion of the monthly blitz execution as needed.
  • Follow all Truenorth procedures for coffee, fountain, and food service programs.
  • Receive deliveries from vendors and verify accuracy of inventory, as well as authorization in the price book.
  • Lead by example by adhering to company policies and procedures, and address staff compliance issues as needed.
  • Assist in training and development of both new and existing staff members.
  • Properly address any guest issues or complaints and escalate to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Run daily reports, reconcile shift sheets, complete e-store reporting, and prepare and transport bank deposit as directed by the Store Manager.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
  • Process information and merchandise through EPOS, including retrieving reports, processing credit card transactions, and operating the lottery machine.
  • Communicate clearly with other employees and guests.
  • React calmly in the event of an emergency situation.
  • Read, count, and write to accurately complete shift reports.
  • Take responsibility for transporting the bank deposit.
  • Stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours.
  • Work in cold conditions for long periods of time while stocking and cleaning the cooler.
  • Move or handle merchandise throughout the store, generally weighing 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including first, second, and occasionally third shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a vehicle (in order to complete banking).
