About the Role

VNS Health is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Supervisor to lead and guide clinical staff in delivering integrated substance use treatment at our outpatient clinic. This role will manage a small caseload, drive impactful outreach and referrals, mentor new talent, and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review chart documentation and reports by staff for quality of care.
  • Ensure that clinical care is provided by qualified staff in accordance with the individualized plan of care and includes assessment of clients' psychosocial status, understanding of social/emotional factors related to health problems, short-term individual counseling, utilization of community resource planning, crisis intervention, family involvement for treatment plan as applicable.
  • Direct, supervise, coordinate, and as needed, directly deliver high-quality behavioral health services. Ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations and Agency policies.
  • Initiate/participate in case conferences of difficult-to-service clients and represent program on record review and quality assurance review committees.
  • Perform all inherent duties in a supervisory role. Ensure effective staff orientation and training, interviews candidates for employment, evaluates staff performance, and recommends hirings, promotions, salary actions, and terminations, as appropriate.
  • Maintain close communication with other disciplines involved in client care, participates in special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and the Education Department, preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Licensed Social Worker, preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in supervision of Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, or graduate Social Work students, preferred.
  • Effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, required.
  • Strong computer literacy, including use of electronic systems for clinical record keeping, required.
  • Minimum two years' experience in an OASAS-certified substance use treatment setting, required.
  • Minimum one year experience supervising substance use counselors, required.
  • Experience providing substance use treatment to adolescents is desired, preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
