Job Summary:

The City of New York is seeking an experienced Executive IT Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of IT projects that support the Department of Homeless Services (DHS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Project Manager for IT Projects to define a technical strategy and roadmap that aligns with DHS business needs and ITS technical requirements.
  • Capture business needs and translate them into application capabilities.
  • Implement an intake process for defining and scoping application concepts that may be turned into formal application requests.
  • Work with DHS administrators, senior staff, and programs to document business needs and create project initiation packets.
  • Respond to day-to-day requests from the DHS administrators' office and issues involving DHS applications or environments.
  • Establish and oversee a low/no code environment for programs to create applications and support programs in the creation of those applications.
  • Monitor for risks to DHS projects, applications, or technical infrastructure and report them to ITS management and DHS executives.
  • Represent DHS business and technical interests in status and planning meetings with ITS or with DSS/HRA.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience using information technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, or area networks. At least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties.
