Job Summary:

The Material Set-Up Specialist assembles, arranges, and maintains production materials, ensuring the material is set up properly and conforms with company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Sets up production materials according to instructions, specifications, and standards.
  • Studies blueprints, work instructions, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
  • Receives, distributes, stores, and secures products as directed in designated, secure locations.
  • Transports, loads, and unloads materials, manually and/or using hand trucks, forklift, and skids.
  • Places and secures materials in proper staging areas.
  • Verifies that measuring instruments, such as tape measures, are in proper working order and within calibration.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Material set-up experience a plus.
  • Strong verbal communication and written communication.
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production materials and processes.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
  • Understands math decimals and fractions and is able to calculate them.
  • Understands standard and metric measurements and is able to convert from one to the other.
  • Understanding in blue print reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation.
  • Knowledge of the use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
  • Proven ability to successfully multi-task.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred.
  • One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must have a current valid NY driver's license and submit a copy to Human Resources prior to driving for business purposes and/or a company vehicle.

Pay Details:

$16.00 to $18.00 per hour
