Department Overview:

The Computer Science and Engineering department is comprised of a diverse group of faculty and students engaged in cutting-edge research and education. Role Summary:

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team focused on NIH-funded projects in the field of bioinformatics. The role involves developing innovative computational tools that utilize multi-omics datasets to identify disease-related genes and patient-specific treatment responses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research initiatives under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, including data collection, analysis, and software development.
  • Present findings at departmental meetings and contribute to the mentoring of junior researchers.
  • Participate in conferences to disseminate research outcomes through presentations.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and scholarly articles for publication.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline. A strong publication record in computational biology, machine learning, or data mining is essential. Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in computational biology or related fields is preferred. Familiarity with software engineering practices, high-performance computing, and parallel programming is advantageous.
