POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary responsibilities include preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in work and dining areas, along with other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assisting with the setup, serving, and cleaning of designated stations.
  2. Taking, preparing, and serving orders for customers.
  3. Handling various cooking techniques such as stir-frying, sautéing, and grilling raw proteins as required.
  4. Heating items for daily specials, utilizing equipment such as ovens and fryers.
  5. Ensuring proper merchandising and signage for assigned stations.
  6. Greeting guests, verifying IDs, and processing sales through the POS system.
  7. Stocking display cases and refrigerators as needed.
  8. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including tables and chairs.
  9. Sorting silverware and maintaining a supply of clean dishes and utensils.
  10. Performing dishwashing duties and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment.
  11. Assisting in food production and special events as assigned.
  12. Managing the cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
  13. Handling laundry duties as required.
  14. Complying with NYS Liquor Authority regulations when selling alcoholic beverages.
  15. Monitoring food temperatures throughout service hours.
  16. Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and dining areas.
  17. Testing new recipes upon request.
  18. Ensuring compliance with NYS Health Codes in food preparation and storage.
  19. Engaging in ongoing learning and skill development.
  20. Demonstrating effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.
  21. Upholding a professional appearance and demeanor.
  22. Providing exceptional customer service at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will possess the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are preferred:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with six months of relevant work experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.

MATH SKILLS

Ability to perform basic calculations in culinary measurements and handle cash transactions accurately.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS

Serv-Safe/HACCP certification is required within one year of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, and perform various physical tasks. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees may be exposed to wet conditions, extreme temperatures, and noise. Understanding proper chemical use and safety protocols is essential.
