Key Responsibilities

Your Role:

We are currently seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to enhance our esteemed team at Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, a division of TranSystems.

Main Duties:
  • Designing structural elements for bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structures.
  • Creating detailed drawings for bridge components to be included in contract documents.
  • Calculating material quantities and preparing construction cost estimates.
  • Reviewing shop drawings for compliance and accuracy.
  • Leading or assisting in bridge inspections and compiling inspection reports.
  • Conducting load rating analyses.
  • Engaging in project meetings with clients to discuss progress and requirements.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure project quality and adherence to deadlines.
Qualifications

What We Seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5-9 years of experience in bridge design or inspection.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, with a commitment to obtain a Maryland PE within six months of employment.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles for various materials including steel and concrete.
  • Familiarity with design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, and NDS.
  • Proficiency in structural design and analysis software, including LARS, Merlin-DASH, and STAAD.
  • Experience with drafting tools such as Microstation and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated team player with aspirations for leadership growth.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification is a plus.
