Postdoctoral Researcher in AI and Extended Reality

We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) Center for Research in Engineering, Media, and Performance (REMAP).
The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of Professor Jeff Burke in the Department of Theater, focusing on applications of contemporary AI techniques to live performances that utilize extended reality platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate in technology development, application, and evaluation for live performances that integrate extended reality platforms
* Collaborate with external sponsors and collaborators, including Disney Research | Studios and Disney StudioLAB, as well as faculty, staff, and students in the School of Theater, Film, and Television
* Interface regularly with external sponsors and collaborators, including Disney Research | Studios and Disney StudioLAB, as well as faculty, staff, and students in the School of Theater, Film, and Television
Qualifications:
* Ph.D. (or equivalent) in computer science, applied mathematics, data science, or a related discipline
* Strong experience and interest in multidisciplinary collaborations that apply advanced technology within arts and entertainment
* Significant experience in practical applications of machine learning and generative artificial intelligence
* Background in theater, performance, or media production is ideal but not required
