Key Responsibilities- Engage with families to understand their strengths, needs, and goals, and connect them with appropriate services and supports.
- Facilitate meetings between families and service providers to promote collaboration and shared decision-making.
- Assist families in gathering and preparing documents needed for specific services, and address any barriers that may prevent full participation.
- Support families during transitions, such as placements, crises, and changes in service systems.
- Empower families to self-advocate and make informed decisions about their child's care.
- Provide emotional support and connect families with natural supports in their community.
- Collaborate with community leaders to promote family engagement and leadership development.
- Bilingual in Spanish required.
- New York State Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA) or Certified Recovery Peer Advocate with a Family Specialty (CRPA-F) preferred.
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) preferred or a State Education Commencement Credential.
- Ability to work with recipients/residents, families, and staff in a caring and respectful manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, recipients/residents, families, and the public.
