Family Peer Advocate

AspireHopeNY, Inc. is seeking a Family Peer Advocate to provide outreach, information, referrals, and advocacy services to families of children and youth with emotional, behavioral, social, and/or developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support to families through phone and face-to-face meetings.
  • Meet program-specific billable service requirements.
  • Document services in a timely manner.
  • Coach families on how to advocate for themselves.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate meetings with families.
  • Help families find ways to meet their basic needs.
  • Assist families in identifying parenting skills that could be strengthened.
Requirements:
  • Lived experience as the parent or primary legal caregiver of a child/youth with an emotional, behavioral, social, and/or developmental disability.
  • Reliable transportation, flexible schedule, home internet, and home office space.
  • Sensitivity and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds and practices of families.
  • Experience navigating multiple child-serving systems.
  • Eligibility for Provisional Family Peer Advocate credential.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Benefits:
  • Starting hourly pay rate $16.39, increasing to $16.89 after Professional Credentialing.
