Job Title: Real Estate Controller/Finance Manager

$150,000 - $200,000 per year (dependent on experience and location)


Job Description:Tax Management and Strategy
  • Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position by collaborating with external tax advisors and managing tax-related issues.

General Ledger Accounting
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions while implementing strong internal controls and accounting policies.

Team Management
  • Lead a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment to ensure their professional growth and development.

Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements, providing management with vital information for decision-making processes by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

Strategic Planning and Budget Management
  • Support the CFO in strategic planning and decision-making processes by achieving budget objectives, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to protect assets, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.

Operational and Staff Management
  • Direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial data, and maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.

Special Projects and Collaboration
  • Handle special projects as required, including working with the legal department on new loans, participating in due diligence of acquisitions, and coordinating setup of RUBS billings with outside providers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • CPA certification required
  • 15-20 years of experience in real estate finance, focusing on tax management and strategy
  • Minimum of 5 years of tenure in a senior finance role
  • Positive attitude toward technological innovation and basic understanding of databases
  • Experience working with Big 4 firms on the tax side
  • Strong knowledge of GL accounting and financial reporting
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of estate planning and entity structures helpful
