Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team at Fairfax County Public Schools. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, modifying, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration equipment (HVACR), and direct digital controls (DDC) systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVACR and DDC systems.
  • Perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations to estimate time and material needs.
  • Read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national codes and of common hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
Requirements
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the air conditioning or HVACR trade at the apprentice II or equivalent level.
  • Possession of a valid EPA-approved universal refrigerant recovery certification to include types I, II, and III.
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level HVACR training program.
