Job Title: Program Director - Physician Assistant/Faculty (Rank TBD) - Physician Assistant - Fort Lauderdale

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Program Director to lead our Physician Assistant program at Nova Southeastern University. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing faculty members and administrative support staff, supervising the activities of the Medical Director, Academic Director, Clinical Director, faculty, and staff, and overseeing the organization, administration, review, planning, and development of the program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage faculty members and administrative support staff
  • Supervise the activities of the Medical Director, Academic Director, Clinical Director, faculty, and staff
  • Oversee the organization, administration, review, planning, and development of the program
  • Continually review the Program's curriculum to assess effectiveness of both the academic and clinical aspects of the program
  • Work in conjunction with the Medical Director to ensure the delivery of quality academic programs through allocation of the program's faculty and financial resources
  • Oversee the scheduling of classes, clinical rotations, and the reporting of student grades
  • Monitor the recruitment of faculty and students
  • Oversee the development and evaluation of faculty
  • Advise and counsel students, faculty, and staff in matters pertaining to the program
  • Maintain responsibility of articulation between the Physician Assistant Program and other departments/programs within the Health Professions Division
  • Respond to requests for data/information from supervisors, other college/university units, and external agencies
  • Conduct regular faculty/staff meetings and establish department committees as needed
  • Ensure appropriate databases, records, and documents are maintained as needed
  • Reduce, resolve, and prevent conflict among program personnel
  • Represent the department at university functions
  • Represent the department at advisory committee meetings
  • Facilitate alumni relations
  • Network with colleagues and maintain effective and close working relationships with the Association of Physician Assistant programs
Academic Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accreditation and self-study processes
  • Teach in the classroom and in physical diagnosis/surgical labs
  • Participate in and/or chair committees for the College of Health Care Sciences, University-wide committees, and/or for the Physician Assistant profession as assigned or elected
  • Work with the Dean, College of Health Care Sciences, Medical, Academic, and Clinical Directors to set program guidelines and objectives, including research and service activities
  • Promote academic excellence and innovation
  • Ensure program meets/exceeds accreditation standards
Financial Responsibilities:
  • Project and manage the Physician Assistant Department budget, monitoring revenues and expenditures and adjusting the budget as needed
  • Aid a coordinated effort in establishing needs for equipment and supplies
  • Assist in the procurement of outside funding through grants and contracts as appropriate

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field, a minimum of five years of clinical experience, and a record of supervisory and administrative experience. A doctoral degree in a related area of specialization and prior experience in training Physician Assistant students are preferred qualifications.
