Job Title: Lathe Technician

Hood Plywood is seeking a skilled Lathe Technician to join our team at our Beaumont, Mississippi facility.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to problem solve. As a Lathe Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of functions, including Green End lathe support and maintenance, troubleshooting problematic systems, and providing technical support to the maintenance and electrical teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion a culture of reliability within the maintenance department by executing a data-driven approach to decision making with a focus on proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Provide mechanical and technical support to the Green End area in order to maintain equipment in a precision state for optimal operation, performing start-up inspections, daily checks, and PMs.
  • Monitor Green End systems operation, observing current run trends and making adjustments as needed.
  • Record any and all operational parameter changes during the shift.
  • Verify inventory of needed mechanical parts in the lathe area and notify supervision of such.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping work area orderly and neat.
  • Wear the proper safety gear (PPE) for the job in progress.
  • Maintain a digital log of notes and create work requests as needed.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. with provided forklift, overhead cranes, etc.
  • Communicate with previous and incoming shift employees to promote reliable operation.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 5+ years related mechanical experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Must successfully complete the Hood Industries Mechanical Certification Process at an AA Millwright level.
  • Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
