Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Material Handler/Cylinder Maintenance Specialist to join our team at American Welding and Gas. As a key member of our production/distribution facility in Beaumont, TX, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our gas cylinders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Test Gas Cylinders: Conduct thorough inspections of gas cylinders to detect surface defects and test the thickness of cylinder walls.
  • Maintain and Repair Equipment: Safely move gas cylinders off pallets onto testing equipment, calibrate and adjust ultrasonic testing equipment to required standards and settings, and perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Record and Document Results: Accurately record test results, cylinder serial numbers, and test dates in a timely manner, and ensure that defective cylinders or those requiring maintenance or repair are removed from service until corrected.
  • Operate Equipment and Vehicles: Operate computer equipment, value machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or GED equivalent, with a strong background in mechanical or technical fields.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating ultrasonic testing equipment, computer software, and other technical tools.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, move, and maneuver heavy equipment and cylinders, as well as work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
