Job Summary:

The Butler Metro Housing Authority is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing grounds maintenance duties, including lawn mowing, weed control, snow removal, litter control, and dumpster maintenance. You will also be responsible for performing janitorial duties, painting apartments, and notifying the Maintenance Supervisor of any issues or concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform grounds maintenance duties as directed, including lawn mowing, weed control, snow removal, litter control, and dumpster maintenance.
• Perform janitorial duties as required, including cleaning and maintaining common areas and resident units.
• Paint apartments as directed, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail.
• Notify the Maintenance Supervisor of any issues or concerns, including disabled inoperable vehicles, broken glass, torn screens, and residents with debris/junk outside their unit.
• Perform daily inspections of assigned vehicles and maintain accurate mileage logs.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs as directed, using basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and residential carpentry procedures.
• Complete work orders as directed, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of lead-based paint/asbestos awareness and safety procedures.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and residential carpentry procedures.
• Proper lifting techniques and public relations skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, including mileage logs and work orders.

Working Conditions:

• The Maintenance Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to changing weather conditions and physical demands of the job.
• The Maintenance Technician will be required to work at heights, lift heavy objects, and perform other physically demanding tasks as necessary.
• The Maintenance Technician will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, including safety glasses, gloves, and a hard hat.
