POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves delivering professional Realtime reporting and transcription services for various court-related proceedings, including trials, hearings, and conferences. Candidates must possess the Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and demonstrate a minimum accuracy of 96% on relevant examinations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively perform the following essential functions:

  1. Provide real-time, verbatim court reporting services using stenographic shorthand for jury trials, preliminary hearings, and other court proceedings as required.
  2. Manage and organize records while prioritizing the production of transcripts. Prepare necessary reports and documentation in accordance with established directives and local policies.
  3. Ensure the secure backup of all stenographic notes, rough drafts, and finalized transcripts, including reporter dictionaries and software files.
  4. Collaborate with team members on various hearings and trials, sharing files and work products, and participate in regular team meetings.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may involve occasional oversight of assistants, interns, or temporary staff. The majority of tasks performed are moderately complex.

COLLABORATIVE WORK

Interactions may require providing guidance to individuals outside of direct reporting relationships, necessitating consideration of diverse perspectives to achieve consensus. Persuasion may be necessary to foster cooperation and acceptance of ideas.

FREEDOM TO ACT & IMPACT

Employees operate under general direction, adhering to established procedures and policies. There is discretion in selecting the appropriate procedures to apply to various duties, with performance reviewed periodically. The impact of actions is moderate.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

This role requires advanced skills and extensive knowledge of court reporting practices. The incumbent should be capable of handling complex tasks and interpreting nuanced aspects of the job, recognized for their technical expertise within the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: An Associate's degree or two years of college education is required. Additional relevant work experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.

Work Experience: A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in court reporting is necessary.

Licenses and Certifications: RPR certification from the NCRA is required, along with meeting national standards for Realtime reporting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position involves medium physical effort, including the ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is generally pleasant, with minimal exposure to unpleasant conditions or hazards.
