Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team at Orlando Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily payroll processing activities, acting as a backup to the Payroll Director, and supervising the payroll team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete all payroll process cycles for all OH healthcare entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of all Pay Groups as scheduled.
  • Evaluate and resolve issues arising from interfaces to payroll processes.
  • Lead and guide Payroll Specialists on procedures, guidelines, and regulations to ensure understanding and implementation.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Director on other payroll projects.
  • Approve and release manual off-cycle check payments.
  • Work with the Payroll Director to manage Payroll Specialists' workload, performance, needs, challenges, and accomplishments.
  • Review garnishments for accuracy.
  • Maintain good working relationships with payroll support areas, including legal, HR, Benefits, timekeeping, HRIS, and IS.
  • Assist the Payroll Director with company acquisitions.
  • Support the Payroll Director with quarter-end and year-end close, including W2 distribution at year-end.
  • Process complex Historical Time Corrections and assist accordingly.
  • Train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies.
  • Train new team members on payroll processes and system functions.
  • Assist with creating or adjusting payroll processing policies and procedures.
  • Support year-end/year-begin tasks.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Payroll Director and escalate potential service issues in a timely manner.
  • Cover for Payroll Specialists in a backup role for vacation and high-volume work efforts.
  • Manage Test Scripts provided by HRIS and effectively process test payroll processing.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of payroll regulations, benefit packages, and other relevant information to answer employee questions regarding payroll deductions.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, high-volume, multi-entity organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos Timekeeping systems.
  • Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
