JOB TITLE: Bilingual Medical Assistant (Spanish-speaking required)

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for executing or assisting with a variety of responsibilities in a healthcare environment including: patient preparation, maintaining sterile techniques, instrument management, and administering medications and injections. Engages with patients, dialysis facilities, physician offices, and diagnostic centers.

SUPERVISOR: Practice Administrator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Clinical responsibilities encompass gathering medical histories and documenting vital signs, clarifying treatment procedures to patients, preparing individuals for examinations, and supporting the physician during the examination process.

2. Carry out routine administrative and clinical functions to ensure the smooth operation of physician offices and other healthcare practitioners.

3. Educate patients regarding medications, prepare and administer medications as prescribed by a physician, and manage drug refills as directed, including telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies.

4. Organize examination rooms for patient visits; measure vital signs, collect data, and accurately document information.

5. Record current medications and prescriptions that require renewal.

6. Guide patients on how to prepare for their physician visit (providing assistance as needed).

7. Anticipate and prepare special equipment and/or supplies necessary for the visit or procedure.

8. Notify the physician when the patient is ready and relay pertinent clinical information.

9. Assist patients through the check-out process upon completion of their visit.

10. Clean and prepare the room for the next patient.

11. Respond to needs to expedite visits and maintain schedule adherence.

12. Support the physician with patient care during the visit.

13. Comply with hand hygiene and standard precaution protocols.

14. Provide care appropriate to the age group of patients in the practice setting and document data per practice protocols, including age-appropriate vital signs measurements.

15. Perform additional duties as required.

EDUCATION:

1. Certification is mandatory

2. High school diploma or equivalent is required

3. Previous healthcare experience and/or training is preferred.

Experience Preferred:
