Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Comprehensive Addiction Programs Inc. As a key member of our treatment team, you will provide individual and group counseling services to clients struggling with substance abuse addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess client needs and develop personalized treatment plans
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, as well as case management services
  • Facilitate mixed-gender and gender-specific groups, including trauma-informed curriculum
  • Develop and maintain a caseload, ensuring timely interventions and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to provide collateral services and referrals as needed
  • Conduct intake interviews, comprehensive assessments, and gather information for diagnosis
  • Interact therapeutically with clients, initiating timely interventions and integrating clinical concepts with rehabilitative principles
  • Communicate effectively with court and law enforcement officials, maintaining professional boundaries
  • Provide crisis intervention, referrals to community health services, and support to clients and families
  • Prepare and maintain assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other records
  • Transport clients as necessary and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
Requirements
  • Certification through a recognized alcohol and drug certification entity
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with alcohol and drug-related issues/addictions
  • Valid California driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software
  • Ability to problem-solve, react to emergency situations, and work independently and collaboratively
  • CPR/First Aid certification
