About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our ONE Media Lab team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in innovating, building, and supporting our next-generation IP broadcast platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Sinclair's ATSC 3 and mobile initiatives in the US and abroad, driving innovation and growth in the broadcast television ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions for verification and validation testing of receivers and broadcast technologies.
  • Participate in the ONE Media Lab innovation and ideation process, contributing to the development of new technologies and services.
  • Develop requirements and acceptance plans for qualifying software and station equipment, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, virtual machines, and management tools to keep lab servers and broadcast air chains up to date.
  • Lead rapid prototype development projects, conducting demonstrations and showcasing innovative solutions.
  • Develop and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies for the Lab, ensuring the highest level of data protection and integrity.
  • Support plug-fests, interop events, and integration in the lab, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Participate in technology demonstrations at key events, such as NAB and CES, showcasing the latest advancements in broadcast technology.
  • Participate in standards and other industry alignment activities at A3SA, ATSC, IETF, W3C, and 3GPP, driving innovation and growth in the broadcast industry.
  • Support other ONE Media initiatives, contributing to the development of new technologies and services.
Requirements
  • BS degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with broadcast TV systems and air chain equipment.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving innovation and growth.
  • Experience with the ATSC 3 and 3GPP standards, with a deep understanding of their applications and implications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of HEVC, AVC, MPEG-2, Dash, HLS, and HDR, with experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting in Linux/Unix and Android environments.
  • Experience with video streaming technology, including MPEG Dash, HLS, MSS, and RTSP.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Perl, with experience in developing and implementing automation scripts.
  • Working knowledge of public/private key infrastructure (PKI), with experience in implementing and managing secure authentication and authorization systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, install, and maintain IP networks, with experience in using sniffer tools such as Wireshark, SolarWindows, PRTG, or similar.
