- The Procurement and Planning Specialist is chiefly accountable for the acquisition of both direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely delivery and confirmation to align with the Master Product Schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the effectiveness of the Quality System components pertinent to this role.
- Ensure the availability of all materials necessary for production operations.
- Identify and address issues related to materials, facilitating problem resolution and communication with all relevant internal stakeholders.
- Lead investigations concerning material discrepancies and related events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Procurement Duties:
- Generate and issue purchase orders (POs) to suppliers within the system, adhering to approved supplier protocols and ensuring timely approvals.
- Manage lead times and expedite costs with suppliers as necessary.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracker for order status, PO status, lead times, and receipt of goods.
- Source new suppliers and vendors based on input from various departments.
- Ensure receipt of all necessary documentation for materials.
- Monitor and adjust open POs and supplier commitments, resolving discrepancies to ensure timely payments.
- Acquire quotes for materials as required by team members.
- Collaborate with Global Procurement for significant purchases to ensure compliance with contracts and conduct standards.
- Support capital expenditure processes.
Planning Responsibilities:
- Conduct raw material planning for projects within the system.
- Maintain inventory levels in accordance with site policies and objectives, adjusting safety stock levels as needed.
- Manage Item Masters, BOMs, routes, and other relevant supply chain data.
- Assist in launch activities for new products as directed.
- Review excess and obsolete inventory, providing data to support customer reimbursement for owned materials.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure targets are met, adjusting purchasing activities accordingly.
- Process materials for destruction when obsolete or expired.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including samples and necessary documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, supply chain management, or business, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, encompassing production planning, inventory management, and procurement.
- At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector or demonstrated knowledge of industry controls and requirements.
- 1 year of experience with MRP systems.
- APICS certification is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and act on MRP reports and stock status reports.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Highly organized with excellent record-keeping abilities.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and analysis in fulfilling job responsibilities.
