As a Multi-Line Underwriter at AmTrust Financial Services, you will be responsible for underwriting new business for assigned agencies in the West Region. This includes maintaining effective relationships with agency contacts to ensure accurate information is gathered for risk evaluation and providing consultation on company product and coverage capabilities that positively impacts risk selection.
You will also be responsible for enabling profitable growth with assigned agencies, including periodic profitability reviews and the implementation of profit improvement actions. Additionally, you will maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values, and uphold the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Key Performance Indicators
- Quickly and effectively make underwriting decisions based on review and analysis of information received.
- Grow the portfolio profitably utilizing underwriting guidelines and applying pricing and terms & conditions that align with the risk characteristics.
- Collaborate closely with other team members, sales, and management as needed to assess risks and write business.
- Develop and maintain strong agency relationships and work closely with Underwriters, Sales, and Management to implement agency plans and share accountability in meeting territory goals.
- Provide support and coaching to the underwriting team and provide leadership on multiple products available to the team to make risk decisions quickly and effectively.
- Occasionally participate in industry events and travel to meet with agencies to support relationships as needed.
- Maintain strong product line and industry expertise and stay abreast of changes in markets.
- Keeps current with market trends and demands.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in a Commercial Lines multiline underwriting role. You will also need to have knowledge of property and casualty underwriting procedures and discipline, as well as knowledge of commercial lines products, coverages, and pricing practices.
You will need to have strong analytical ability and organizational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
