Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will work in conjunction with senior purchasing staff to execute the tactical and strategic procurement of assigned goods and services. This role requires a strong understanding of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct purchasing activities while optimizing the value of cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Safeguard company confidential information by executing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) before conducting business with suppliers, where applicable.
  • Analyze and verify specifications for requests from internal customers, identify approved suppliers, or source new suppliers to execute purchases.
  • Competitively bid specifications and work to obtain contractual arrangements for the purchase of goods and services.
  • Maintain quality control and safety objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Ensure that Company purchases are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and comply with Core Laboratories' purchasing guidelines/approval authority.
  • Analyze goods and services and develop or recommend ways to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, obtain written acknowledgement from suppliers, and administer purchase orders through delivery and payment.
  • Resolve invoice, shipping, and non-conforming parts discrepancies.
  • Compile and maintain records of items purchased, including prices, deliveries, and inventories.
  • Consult catalogs and conduct interviews with suppliers to obtain specifications.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance (quality, delivery).
  • Serve as a professional resource to assist other procurement personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing/procurement environment required with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a purchasing/procurement environment required without a Bachelor's degree.
  • Membership in the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or the Association for Operations Management (APICS) is preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with Oracle and MRP reporting is preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office required (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
Work Environment

This position resides within a normal office working environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
