Job Title: Nurse Educator - Home Health Care Specialist

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is a leading medical center that offers a wide range of healthcare services. We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team as a Home Health Care Specialist.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing data integrity and consistency of OASIS documentation and assessment processes. They will educate and work with clinical staff to clarify documentation and data integrity issues, ensuring appropriate coding and sequencing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed reviews of OASIS clinical assessment documentation to ensure appropriateness, accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Consult with clinical staff and provide educational guidance on code selection, OASIS data item responses, documentation, and Plan of Care development.
  • Capture clinical severity for the level of service provided to ensure quality, cost-effective care, and compliance.
  • Work with Agency leadership to address trends that affect the Agency's outcome and process measures noted during OASIS review.
  • Provide education and act as a resource to clinicians, supervisors, office staff, and billing staff on OASIS C requirements, CMS guidelines, home care ICD-10 coding, PPS guidelines, and billing-related issues.
  • Assist the Finance Department in creating a Home Health Resource Group (HHRG) and Health Insurance Prospective Payment (HIPPS).
  • Assist Agency leadership with achieving corporate goals, analyzing data, improving patient care outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Participate in Agency quality assessment/performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Current and valid NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and registration.
  • Years of Home Health care experience.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, OASIS, and ICD-10 Coding requirements.
  • Knowledge of Federal and NYS Department of Health regulations.
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission requirements.
  • Able to promote and strengthen continuous quality improvement concepts.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and electronic medical record.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • OASIS C Certification (COS-C).
  • ICD-10 Certification (HCS-D).
  • 1-2 years OASIS review/Coding experience in a Home Health agency.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $112, $144,684.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
