Supervisory Structure:


Reports to the Executive Director of Student Services and the District BCBA for program development and oversight, as well as the Building Principal for daily operations.


Overview:


Behavior Support Technicians (BST) are essential personnel responsible for executing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment strategies under the supervision of the district's BCBA or behavior specialist. They utilize ABA methodologies to foster academic, communication, and social skills while implementing strategies to mitigate challenging behaviors.

BSTs provide interventions that promote socially acceptable behaviors, enabling students to enhance their communication, social interactions, and problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, BSTs will assist with crisis management and training initiatives as directed by the Coordinator of Behavior Services and/or the Director of Student Services.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Deliver direct support to students in classroom settings based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) through discrete trial training and incidental teaching.

2. Provide care in both individual and group settings, focusing on fostering student independence in academic, communication, and social skills.

3. Assist BCBA's with the development of behavior support plans and skill acquisition strategies.

4. Collect and analyze data on academic, communication, and social skills through direct observation, as well as tracking identified problem behaviors.

5. Maintain accurate records of student progress on a daily basis.

6. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students, employing CPI techniques as necessary.


Data Management:
Prepare, enter, and update all relevant data concerning students on caseload.

Behavior Assessment:
Document and describe student behaviors in measurable terms. Assist BCBA's with assessment processes tailored to each student's behavioral needs.

Skill Development:

Collaborate with supervisors to design and implement skill acquisition plans that promote the desired skills in students.


Behavior Management:
Work with supervisors to develop behavior reduction strategies and apply interventions and reinforcement techniques.

Documentation:
Generate comprehensive reports in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace standards, including illness and medication notes, as well as other objective observations.
Professional Standards:
Maintain clear communication and professional boundaries, integrating feedback from supervisors to enhance professional performance.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in providing ABA instruction.
Completion of the 40-hour RBT training program is required.
Successful completion of the RBT Competency Assessment is necessary.
Must maintain RBT credential with the BACB.
