Job Overview

Position: Transportation Supervisor

Martin Transportation Systems is on the lookout for a dedicated Transportation Supervisor to oversee operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising dispatch personnel and managing drivers on dedicated, just-in-time (JIT) round trip loads, ensuring that revenue and mileage targets are met while maintaining safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to ensure that workforce capacity aligns with customer and organizational needs.
  • Facilitate the establishment of goals aimed at enhancing operational areas, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for fleet operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
  • Manage dispatchers and coordinate the dispatching of drivers to guarantee timely pickups and deliveries of truckload shipments.
  • Assist in enforcing compliance with driver electronic log regulations and company policies.
  • Engage with central dispatch staff, customer service, and clients to ensure seamless operations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure a safe working environment for all drivers.
  • Update and interface with computer trucking systems to maintain accurate records.
  • Assess driver performance and adherence to compliance standards.

Work Schedule:

  • Shift: 6 PM - 6 AM, with a rotating schedule of 4 days on and 4 days off.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in dispatching and supervisory roles within the trucking industry is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities are required.
  • Strong communication and computer skills are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively solve problems.
  • In the absence of a degree, five years of relevant transportation experience in a similar capacity will be considered.
