Position Overview
Children's Therapy Center is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Instructor to join our Early Intervention Team. This role involves providing individualized instructional services to children in their natural settings, including homes and community spaces. The instructor may also lead integrated playgroups for small groups of children. A key aspect of our Early Support for Infants and Toddlers Program is empowering parents to actively participate in their child's developmental journey, ensuring they are involved in both group and individual sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to conduct family-centered, strengths-based screenings, evaluations, and ongoing assessments to inform eligibility and contribute to comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Educate parents and caregivers on the diverse aspects of child development, considering individual, cultural, and community differences.
- Provide culturally relevant support to caregivers in home and natural environments, utilizing a coaching model that promotes holistic health and development.
- Guide parents and caregivers in establishing culturally relevant routines that enhance child development.
- Work with caregivers to create and implement the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) that fosters healthy identities related to race, culture, gender, socio-economic status, and disability.
- Build strong relationships with caregivers and collaborate with community members and the multidisciplinary team to address family needs.
- Actively participate in team meetings, staffing, in-services, and peer coaching/consultation as a member of the ESIT team.
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate and adapt to cultural, racial, linguistic, ethnic, and socio-economic diversity within daily activities by partnering with families to incorporate their languages and traditions.
- Encourage and promote healthy relationships between caregivers and children by fostering secure attachments and positive interactions.
- Ensure compliance with Children's Therapy Center's processes, policies, and timelines as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver group and individual instruction to enhance cognitive, social, self-help, communication, gross motor, and fine motor skills for children with diverse abilities.
- Provide developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage exploration, learning, enjoyment, and the establishment of trusting relationships for children from birth to three years.
- Identify and utilize community resources to enrich the educational offerings of the program.
- Current teaching certification in Washington State is required.
- Preferred endorsements in Early Childhood Education or Special Education.
- Master's degree from an accredited education program.
- In-depth knowledge of early childhood development and disabilities.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, and their families in a multidisciplinary context.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying ideas effectively through various mediums.
- Strong listening abilities, with an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Proactive in anticipating challenges and adapting to changes.
- Collaborative team player, valuing diverse perspectives to support common goals.
- Demonstrated respect for and engagement with diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, considering relevant details and input from all stakeholders.

- Experience and training in infant mental health, psychotherapy, and attachment theory.
- Familiarity with related systems, such as foster care and child welfare.
- Proficient in word processing and familiar with MS Word and Outlook.
- Valid Washington State driver's license and automobile insurance, with reliable transportation.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
Schedule:
This position requires onsite, in-person engagement and is a full-time role of 40 hours per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
Children's Therapy Center offers competitive compensation based on experience and education. This position is exempt and compensated with a salary. The annual salary range is dependent on qualifications.
