Job Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer provides high-quality patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession. This role is responsible for performing echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
  • Position patients on examination tables for optimum testing procedures and conditions.
  • Explain procedures in easy-to-understand terms to relieve patient anxiety.
  • Set up equipment to administer procedures in a timely fashion.
  • Determine and set priorities to meet patient needs.
  • Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in patient medical records.
  • Ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Maintain infection control precautions and identify potential infection control problems.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities within the department.
  • Participate in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
  • Conform to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Obtain 15 hours of echo-related CME over a 3-year period.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree with completion of ultrasound program
  • 2 years of related experience in an outpatient practice setting

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff, and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff, and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
