About the Opportunity

The City of Suffolk, VA is seeking motivated and skilled individuals to join our team as Information Technology Interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced IT team and gain hands-on experience in various areas of IT service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, configuration, and installation of network switches, routers, and backbone equipment
  • Configure and maintain City Active Directory environment, including DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies
  • Provide effective customer service in response to requests for assistance with computer, software, and telephone services
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems with PC hardware and software
  • Configure and deliver new computers and assist with migration to Office 365
  • Develop written processes and forms to help manage the City IT portfolio
  • Assist in modernizing City services, including transition from on-premise legacy applications to cloud-based systems
  • Contribute to improvements in the City's cybersecurity posture, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the City's networks and information
Requirements
  • Must be an active duty military personnel
  • Valid driver's license required for use of City vehicles
