Job Title: Paint Technician

We are seeking a skilled Paint Technician to join our team at the City of Suffolk, VA. As a Paint Technician, you will be responsible for laying out and applying street markings, striping, lines, and directional messages on City streets, as well as operating heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laying out and applying street markings, striping, lines, and directional messages on City streets
  • Operating heavy equipment, including the large computer-operator airless striper
  • Setting up and removing barricades from work areas and detours
  • Inventorying materials and reporting any necessary material needs
  • Removing and adding painted markings for new construction
  • Operating a variety of heavy equipment
  • Grinding machines to remove old street markings
  • Receiving and/or reviewing various records and reports, including maintenance and repair reports
  • Preparing and/or processing various records and reports, including equipment inspection forms and activity reports
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Commercial Driver's License Class A must be obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Pavement Marking Technician certification within 24 months of hire
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work varying schedule shifts, including nights and weekends as necessary. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a moderate degree.
