Job Overview

Position: Welder (Structural Steel)

Location: Pataskala, OH
Compensation: $20-24/hr

Role Summary:

The Welder is accountable for joining structural steel components to construct robust steel frameworks. Responsibilities include welding, cutting, and operating various fabrication tools such as grinders and drills.

Primary Duties:

  • Construct and assemble steel beams, columns, and other structural elements to create buildings and steel frameworks.
  • Cut, position, and weld in accordance with AISC quality specifications.
  • Fabricate, weld, torch cut, drill, and grind structural components.
  • Drill openings in steel sections for bolting applications.
  • Label and mark steel in accordance with fabrication schedules and AISC quality standards.
  • Proficiently read a tape measure.
  • Execute additional tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • No specific certifications or licenses are required; however, prior experience in welding is essential, with specific training acceptable as a substitute for experience.
  • Must successfully complete a 1G, flat position, multi-pass welding test.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Experience with overhead cranes is preferred.
  • Familiarity with forklift operation is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints.

Essential Skills:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Demonstrate effective MIG welding skills using 1/16" solid wire with Argon/CO2.
  • Foster a positive work atmosphere to achieve organizational objectives.
