About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Program Director to lead our Internal Medicine and Transitional Year Residency programs at HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for both programs, ensuring alignment with HCA Healthcare's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement educational content and operations for both residency programs, including scholarly activity of residents and faculty.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership and the Designated Institutional Official for GME to ensure program success and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Recruit and retain top talent, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the programs.
  • Manage program budgets, resources, and personnel, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective allocation of time.

Requirements

  • ABMS or equivalent board certification in Internal Medicine.
  • 3+ years of APD or PD experience, with a strong track record of academic achievement and leadership.
  • Post-residency clinical experience with additional experience as a faculty member with an accredited residency program required.
  • Excellent leadership, clinical, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate residents, faculty, and staff.

About Our Programs

  • Our HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Institution sponsors 6 programs, including Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Transitional Year, and Gastroenterology, with approximately 150 trainees.
  • Our Internal Medicine Residency program was established in 2017 and has 20 residents per year.
  • Our Transitional Year program has 15 residents and was established in 2021.
  • We have multiple academic affiliations, including 2 local medical schools and several schools of Nursing.
