About Madison Square Garden Entertainment
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Custodial Operations Supervisor to join our team at the iconic Madison Square Garden venues. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our world-renowned facilities.
Your Responsibilities:- Oversee the daily operations of the custodial department, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
- Coordinate labor activities to ensure seamless service delivery and minimize operational conflicts.
- Respond effectively to emergencies in a fast-paced environment.
- Direct custodial staff during events at the Arena, Theater, Expo Center, and 3rd floor spaces.
- Manage event-related cleaning budgets and optimize labor costs for both event and post-event cleaning.
- Generate timesheets, monitor labor hours, and manage the electronic timekeeping system.
- Plan, schedule, and organize all shift work to ensure adequate coverage.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and restroom consumables, tracking spending throughout the year.
- Ensure a first-class operation by delivering superior service to internal and external clients.
- Collaborate with Concourse Managers and Supervisors during events to ensure all areas are cleaned and adequately staffed.
- Build strong working relationships with other departments and trade staff to foster a coordinated workforce.
- Assist in the hiring and interviewing process for restroom attendants and custodians.
- Supervise a team of over 120 full-time and part-time cleaning staff, including restroom attendants.
- Minimum 2-3 years of management experience in event venues, sports, or theater operations.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience managing labor and material budgets effectively.
- Previous supervisory experience in custodial/housekeeping, with an emphasis on administration is preferred.
- Completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours or equivalent self-development through certifications or trade school coursework is preferred.
- Experience managing union staff is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and build relationships across departments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to mobilize key stakeholders and engage with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships and influence within teams and across functions, even without direct reporting lines.
- Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with diverse individuals.
- Comfortable managing conflict and responding to customer issues with urgency.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Experience motivating and encouraging exceptional performance within teams.
- Ability to hold team members accountable for outcomes and monitor performance regularly.
- Demonstrated success in measuring improvements in customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to achieve high levels of performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
