The Role

We are seeking a Direct Care Specialist to join our inter-disciplinary mental health environment. As a key member of our team, you will support our therapists, dietitians, and nurses in achieving their discipline-specific treatment plans.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the physical and psychological safety of clients, including vital sign monitoring, meal observation, and reporting unusual findings to nursing and/or the physician.
  • Document observations and notify supervisors/nurses/therapists of any unusual changes or concerns.
  • Dispense medication and administer First Aid according to facility policy, with proper follow-up documentation.
  • Eat meals with clients as prepared and provided by the kitchen and dietary staff, which is critical to client wellbeing and recovery.
  • Document patient progress per procedure.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to clients in crisis, as directed by the nurse or therapist and the client's plan of care.
  • Assist clients with nutritional and dietary needs, as indicated by the facility's nutritionist and interdisciplinary plan.
  • Communicate with clients and significant others, addressing family concerns in a pleasant and efficient manner, and seeking assistance from licensed staff when needed.
  • Maintain and communicate the level system with clients, advising licensed staff of issues related to level system compliance.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, concern, respect, and compassion toward all clients, families, co-workers, and the public as a representative of Alsana.
  • Adhere to the facility's dress code and maintain a clean appearance and hygienic conditions of the facility.
  • Lead/co-lead and facilitate groups for Residential/Partial Hospital/Intensive Outpatient Clients, participating in an evening and weekend group rotation.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • One year of experience in the field of behavioral health.
  • Current valid Class E Driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • L1MA certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Must have current CPR certification, preferably through the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge regarding supervision of others.
  • Physically able to perform most household duties, including lifting up to 20 pounds and engaging in basic recreational activities such as walking, etc.
