The RN Educator/WOC nurse plays a pivotal role in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and practices of nursing staff through a structured educational design process aimed at addressing identified gaps and promoting evidence-based practices.Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the subject matter expert in the management of patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence.
- Facilitate the professional growth of nursing personnel and advocate for continuous learning as they navigate through various educational and practice settings.
- Utilize a systematic approach to transition individuals, teams, and organizations from their current capabilities to desired outcomes, effectively closing performance gaps.
- Incorporate diverse learning technologies to meet educational and performance needs, fostering knowledge exchange and teamwork.
- Lead the implementation of projects and educational activities, rigorously assessing their impact on organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution; a master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Current licensure as an RN or APRN in NY.
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as an RN or APRN.
- BCLS and ACLS certifications are advantageous.
- WOCNCB Certification is preferred; WTA-C or equivalent certifications will be considered.
- Proficient understanding of supplies, vendors, and durable medical equipment related to wound and ostomy care.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to educate patients.
- Outstanding organizational, research, and mentoring capabilities.
- Willingness to provide education at times and locations that accommodate nursing staff availability.
Position Requirements:
- Provide education to nurses with diverse educational backgrounds and experience levels to meet clinic demands.
- Educate patients and their families, accommodating varying levels of understanding.
- Foster collaborative teamwork between inpatient and outpatient wound and ostomy care teams.
- Engage in teamwork with physicians, residents, and case managers.
- Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in the field to enhance teaching methods.
- Collaborate effectively with administrative and educational departments to plan, organize, implement, and deliver training to clinical staff, nurse managers, and preceptors.
