Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the surgical services department, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of surgical staff, including nurses, surgical techs, and support personnel.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical services.
  • Stay abreast of current surgical trends, techniques, and management principles to ensure the department is up-to-date with industry advancements.
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) or equivalent degree, required.
  • Experience: Progressive clinical nursing experience of at least five years, including previous management experience as a head nurse, nursing supervisor, or in an equivalent role within the surgical services department, preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire.
    • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is desired.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of current surgical services trends, techniques, and principles of management.
