Role Summary:
This role is situated within imaging departments or specialized perinatal areas, functioning under the general oversight of physicians and/or managerial supervision.
The Sonography Specialist exhibits proficiency in various ultrasound modalities including OB/GYN, prostate, abdominal, and head/neck imaging, conducting examinations in alignment with established ACR guidelines and protocols.
In the perinatal domain, the specialist showcases expertise in a range of obstetric procedures, performing ultrasound assessments according to AIUM standards.
Across all specialties, the Sonography Specialist is accountable for executing high-quality ultrasound evaluations, ensuring precise documentation in the EMR, fostering collaborative relationships with team members, adhering to quality assurance protocols, and delivering compassionate patient care. Responsibilities also include compliance with infection control measures, mentoring students, orienting new staff, ensuring the functionality of ultrasound equipment through adherence to standard operating procedures, troubleshooting equipment issues, assisting with record maintenance, and upholding a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and protocols. Continuous professional development is encouraged through participation in educational opportunities.
Travel to various locations may be necessary.
This position requires RDMS certification in the relevant specialty and adherence to the minimum continuing education standards set by the registry and ACR/AIUM.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Allied Health
Completion of an accredited technical, professional, or vocational program
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or ARRT (US)
Registered in ABD, Physics
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
Experience in Clinical Allied Health
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records by completing all necessary documentation prior to submission.
Ensure comfort and care for patients, families, and staff before, during, and after procedures. Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills to enhance departmental well-being. Foster cooperative relationships with interdepartmental colleagues.
Demonstrate ongoing competency through continuous education and training. Exhibit knowledge of equipment and operational procedures through practical assessments. Select appropriate imaging protocols and adhere to departmental guidelines.
Consistently produce and evaluate diagnostic sonograms for radiological interpretation.
