Job Summary

As a Mutual Fund Administration Consultant at Northwestern Mutual, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial statements and regulatory filings. Your expertise in fund accounting and compliance will be essential in maintaining the trust and confidence of our clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements and related materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial information to internal and external customers, including regulatory filings and performance calculations.
  • Ensure mutual fund compliance with IRS, SEC, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Research and engage in projects related to new products, regulations, and system enhancements.
  • Maintain book-to-tax differences and prepare excise and fiscal tax calculations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external contacts to achieve compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance on technical knowledge of fund administration.
  • Oversee work performed by fund accounting service providers and custodians.
  • Recommend and review new procedures to improve process and control.
  • Identify, research, and resolve issues related to fund accounting, administration, and compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in investment company industry, preferably in mutual fund administration or auditing.
  • Experience with complex security transactions.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting for investments.
  • Previous supervisory skills and ability to work well in team environment.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • High degree of self-motivation.
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Polished communication skills with ability to interact and engage at multiple levels.
  • Ability to work well with limited guidance.
  • Demonstrated superior analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to retrieve and utilize information from accounting system and other sources.
Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start: $68,320.00

Pay Range - End: $126,880.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
