Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Sturges Manufacturing Co., Inc. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain milling machines and lathes to produce high-quality products.
  • Complete machining and fabrication activities from blueprints and specifications.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Responsible for maintenance on grounds, including landscaping, mowing, snowplowing, and snow shoveling/salting.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor in identifying and resolving safety hazards.
  • Perform other production and support activities as required, including quality testing, sewing machine setup and repair, shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate contracted services when necessary.
  • Maintain buildings, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, building construction, and other related maintenance activities.
  • Serve as backup with housekeeping of all buildings, including cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping of all flooring, vacuuming offices and all carpets, and emptying all trash/recycling bins.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License in good standing.
  • Experience in working with electricity and electronics in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to operate machine shop equipment including milling machines, lathes, and powered hand tools.
  • Experience with Carpentry.
  • Basic Experience with welding and fabrication.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Able to read, write and fluently communicate in English.
