Emergency Medical Services Instructor

Compensation: $30.00 per hour, dependent on experience and course specifics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an adjunct instructor for designated courses, which may encompass skill laboratories, patient care simulations, and content delivery.
  • Ensure that both practical and theoretical knowledge aligns with national standards and evidence-based practices.
  • Facilitate skill labs and patient care scenarios utilizing established teaching and evaluation methodologies.
  • Maintain precise records of student performance and provide constructive feedback across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
  • Deliver course content as agreed upon with the Program Manager.
  • Supervise students in clinical settings in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator.
  • Stay informed about state and local EMS regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain instructor credentials for standardized courses as mutually determined.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the organization based on experience and feedback.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving skills when addressing identified issues.
  • Engage positively with colleagues and students, serving as a role model.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Execute tasks efficiently to optimize productivity.
  • Assist in the upkeep of program equipment.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and respond to program needs promptly.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in situations lacking explicit instructions.
  • Deliver educational presentations that incorporate adult learning principles.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Work independently and manage pressure effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive experience in a clinical or field setting as an EMT or Paramedic. Previous experience as an adjunct instructor is preferred.

Education: An associate degree is preferred. Completion of an approved instructor course is also preferred, as required by local governing authorities.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Preference for instructors of PALS, PEPP, or EPC.

Licensing/Registration/Certification:

  • NREMT certification preferred.
  • AHA BLS Instructor certification preferred.
  • AHA ACLS Instructor certification preferred.
  • PHTLS or ITLS Instructor certification preferred.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the EMS Program Manager and interacts with students and staff.
