Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an experienced and dynamic Neurology Section Chief to lead our team in the Rocky Mountain Region. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, developing and implementing quality care standards, and contributing to the growth and development of our neurology program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Continue and further the development of the Neurology Program, including providing evaluation and treatment for patients seen in the neurology outpatient clinic, and consultation for inpatient services if assigned.
  • Patient Care: Provide patient care in the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, attending in the outpatient clinic, and in some cases on the inpatient consult service, and other clinical services covered by the Neurology Section.
  • Education and Training: Teach medical students, interns, and residents, and fellows in Neurology, and participate in the educational activities of the Division of Neurology, University of Colorado Denver.
  • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned, including Neurology Section meetings.
  • Expert Consultation and Treatment: Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Neurology, and in some cases the inpatient wards and emergency department.
  • Medical Management and Care: Coordinate medical management and care within their discipline with Primary Care providers and other Medical/Surgical services and personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
  • On-Call Services: Provide on-call services for the Neurology section as assigned, sharing after-hour call responsibilities with section physicians in rotation.
  • Quality Monitoring: Participate in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks as assigned, including peer reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), and special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (Non-Citizen May Be Considered IAW VA Policy)
  • Must have a current, active, and unencumbered U.S. State Medical License (any State)
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology
  • Competitive candidates will have 2+ years of leadership and department administrative experience
