Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of site EHS policies and plans, implementing defined parts of the site EHS plan, and supporting site implementation and maintenance of client EHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and conduct EHS-related training programs, including work permit, incident investigation, root cause, LOTO, etc.
- Conduct risk assessments as required on various process equipment and tasks to quantify risk and recommend risk reduction measures to the intended audience.
- Support environmental compliance by managing waste disposal processes, air emissions inventory, and reporting.
- Assist in maintaining the Management of Change process, including review of changes for EHS implications.
- Develop and support occupational health processes, including performing Health Risk Assessments, IH planning and monitoring, and development of related programs such as Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and Ergonomics.
- Support site preparation and execution of EHS plans.
- Advise on a wide-ranging scope of EHS issues.
- Support Emergency Response Plan with participation and assistance with training activities, developing and conducting drills, and resolving identified gaps.
- Audit for compliance with EHS requirements and progress of implementation of EHS plans.
- Ability to either take the lead or participate in incident investigations and make the correct decision based on each situation.
- Lead participants through site Root Cause Analysis methodology to arrive at sound causes and solutions to incidents.
- Work to maintain Incident Reporting system for sites.
- Manage site safety metric reporting to satisfy internal requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Interface with corporate EHS to satisfy internal reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a technical or EHS discipline required.
- Minimum of 3 years in various EHS-related functions in a manufacturing environment.
- High level of conceptual and analytical thinking and ability.
- Good knowledge of universally accepted EHS practices.
- Cursory knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is desired.
- Good knowledge of US OSHA regulations as they relate to general industry.
- Good communication, social, and advisory skills required.
- Must have advanced computing skills in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
