Firmware Design Engineer Job Description

SNC is seeking a highly skilled Firmware Design Engineer to join our team. As a Firmware Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing firmware for FPGA and SoC architecture for DoD systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop firmware for FPGA and SoC architecture
  • Integrate firmware into small form factor security devices and network systems
  • Perform simulation and verification of FPGA and SoC designs
  • Generate design documentation and test procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on firmware design
  • Experience with FPGA design using VHDL
  • Knowledge of Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs and development tools (Vivado, Vitis)
  • Proficient in static timing analysis for FPGA/SoC designs
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Tcl)
  • Understanding of C/C++ programming
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and unit testing of FPGA/SoC designs
  • Experience with integration/debug tools (digital multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) and circuit card assembly (CCA) design
  • Schematic capture design with Mentor Graphics tools (PADS, DxDesigner)
  • CCA layout part placement and routing design practices
  • Knowledge of FPGA embedded security functions (Secure Boot, Anti-Tamper, encryption, authentication)

SNC offers a competitive salary range of $114,357.72 - $157,241.87, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
