Job Purpose
The role of the Janitor is crucial in providing a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere for all guests. Janitors represent the visual standards of the Progressive Retail Management brand, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and ready for use. By employing safe cleaning practices and being responsive to the needs of guests, Janitors contribute to a positive experience for all visitors.
Qualifications
This is an entry-level position. Candidates must meet all applicable employment laws, with no minimum qualifications required. However, the following are preferred:
- Two years of janitorial experience
- Two years of floor maintenance experience
- Basic computer skills in a PC environment
- Knowledge of SDS and chemical safety
- General mechanical maintenance and repair skills
- Compliance with licensing requirements where applicable
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge every guest sincerely
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance throughout the facility
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance cleanliness and guest experience
- Conduct regular patrols of the property to monitor for safety and operational concerns
- Maintain flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Perform tasks with minimal disruption to guests
- Adhere to safe work practices at all times
- Report and track equipment outages
- Keep a record of cleaned areas
- Follow company policies and procedures consistently
Performance Metrics
Janitors will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Meeting or exceeding cleanliness standards
- Maintaining supply stock within budgetary guidelines
- Achieving quarterly attendance of over 97%
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive tasks. Janitors must be capable of lifting and handling objects weighing 50 lbs or more safely and standing for the majority of their shift.
Supervisory Functions
This role typically does not involve supervisory responsibilities. In situations where multiple Janitors are present, a lead may be designated by the Store Manager for specific projects.
